Usage of mobile devices is now an essential part of our life. From early morning alarm to the bedtime chatting with friends, it will remain with us all time. All-important tasks like shopping, banking, mailing, social media engagement, information transfer etc is performed through mobile within seconds.

All around the Globe knows, all these facilities are coming with the risk of insecurities like hacking, leaks of personal data malwares, adwares, spywares & others.

In our previous blog, we already tried to flash a light on “risk of ransomware type of attack on your mobile device”.

According to Statista, Android acquires almost 86% of market share among total mobile device.

But the problem with Android is its open source behavior. It allows everyone to tweak it in the way they want. Even one can side loads the apps in Android instead of downloading it from the default app store. Unfortunately, this makes Android the most desirable platform for hackers.

With increase of attacks in Android devices, Google has now considered security as major aspects for its next Android O.

IPhone is considered as secured but recent research shows that IOS is also attacked by malware such as AceDeceiver, XCodeGhost & Pegasus" spyware, even if they aren’t Jailbreak.

Unfortunately, one can’t secure your device totally but atleast by following few steps can secure it from most of the attacks.

Here are few tips to keep your Smartphone secure.

  • Never install an app from unauthorized app stores and always keep the option of “unknown sources Installations” off.

  • Avoid clicking links in WhatsApp and other such apps, which received from the unknown source.
  • Before downloading an app, always read the privacy policy and its permission to access your phone. Do not allow apps to access your personal data from your phone as most apps do not have any need of those data.
  • Always prefer to use VPN in-place of using a Public Wi-Fi. As VPN will prevent Wi-Fi to access your personal information by encrypting while transmitting it between your device and site’s server.
  • Always prefer to use a good Antivirus suitable for your Smartphone.
  • Never keep any type of password in your inbox or notes. Try remembering passwords instead of keeping it in your inbox or notes.
  • Clean your phone regularly by removing unnecessary junk, cookie, cache, OTP, activation links and others from your smartphone.
  • Do not use Auto Login for apps used for banking and wallets.
  • Always use screen look with unique code or pattern so that no one else can use it, even if your phone is lost.
  • Even though Judy tricked Google’s malware scanner, Bouncer, it is still a good practice to make sure that you download apps that are scanned by it.
  • Keep your phone and the apps updated (especially the apps used for banking and wallets). Those apps have usually updated with more security features.

As always said Better be safe than sorry later it is highly advisable to follow above mentioned steps to keep distance from security attacks.
