  3. Is PHP finally thread-safe? (Serious question — easy thread-safety is one reason I use Nodejs on the back-end)

There was a lot of COBOL code around for years after people stopped using it. Facebook has legacy PHP code which it would be folly to rewrite. (Do they also have legacy Perl?) So they protect themselves from PHP pitfalls by having maintainers use defensive coding constraints. But they created React to have server-side HTML generation going forward that uses one language on server and client.

I have used PHP, JSP, Angular, React and (alas!) Ruby on Rails. A major advantage of Angular and React is that they encourage and support good design practices. So a talented beginner, who is likely to make an ungovernable mess with PHP or JSP, will likely make something very maintainable/refactorable with the more contemporary languages.

So if you are a good PHP developer, there will be plenty of work for you for some years to come. But if you are starting out with web program, go forwards not backward and learn a non-legacy client language and one of the more flexible server-side languages like Nodejs (Express, Meteor), SpringBoot (for services) or Python.

    1. Hi John:

Thank you for your all comments and I understood what do you mean. As a development team we are also moving towards the technologies you mentioned as those seems better then the PHP in many aspects as you mentioned.

Appreciate your efforts to share this awareness with this I have got new opportunity to write something on this so our community will have advantage of it as well.

      Thanks!
